Donors are a major source of support for the Foundation. There have been many special donors over the years. One is Dan Christian, an English Literature teacher at a private high school in Baltimore, Maryland. A long time fan, Dan has always believed fully in Harry's message, that each person can make a difference. Dan uses Harry's music in a Dante course that he teaches. He has developed a curriculum that exposes students to both Harry's music and message. He takes this presentation to other schools and donates his stipend to the Foundation. In addition, he makes other personal donations and encourages family and friends to do the same. Past students of Dan's friends and family have also made donations in honor of Dan and his fine work.

Another recent and generous donor is Lawrence Unger. He made his gift "because I was deeply moved by Harry Chapin's work and I felt that this was an appropriate thing to do."

Planned giving can be as simple as including a bequest to the Harry Chapin Foundation in your will, but planned giving can also include other types of bequests. With the goals of providing for your loved ones, reducing taxes and remembering worthy causes, there are many options available that can benefit you and your family, as well as The Harry Chapin Foundation, now and in the future. Here are some of the available opportunities to consider:

  • Bequest
  • Charitable Gift Annuity
  • Life Insurance Policy
  • Retirement Plans
  • Real Estate
  • Charitable Remainder Trust
  • Charitable Lead Trust

These are just a few of the most common planned giving vehicles, but
others are available. Please contact the Harry Chapin Foundation or your estate planning professional for further information. We can discuss how these tools might be an appropriate way to demonstrate your concern for future generations.
